VoiceExam is a video and oral assessment platform that lets educators create, administer, and grade recorded exams at scale. Students answer questions on camera, and our AI transcribes each response and scores it against instructor-defined rubrics, cutting the time it takes to run video and oral assessments.

Our AI system uses advanced speech-to-text technology to transcribe student responses, then evaluates them against the rubric criteria you define. The AI provides a suggested score and detailed feedback for each response, and instructors can watch the video, review the transcript, and adjust or override any AI-suggested score.

VoiceExam supports a variety of video and oral assessment formats including timed video exams, oral exams, skills demonstrations, open-ended question responses, structured interviews, language proficiency assessments, presentation evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations. You can customize time limits, question order randomization, number of attempts, and grading rubrics for each exam.

Every question runs on the clock. Each question appears only when the student reaches it, and students cannot go back to an earlier one. A short thinking window that you set counts down, then the camera starts recording automatically, and the recording stops when the response time runs out. The overall exam clock is tracked on our servers, so refreshing the page never adds time, and answers uploaded after time runs out are rejected. Students with accommodations receive their extended time on every timer.

VoiceExam is designed to support FERPA. We act as a "school official" under your institution's direct control and use student records only to provide the service. Access is restricted by role: students see only their own work, and instructors see only their own classes. All traffic is encrypted with TLS, recordings play only through short-lived authorized links, integrity decisions are logged, and we delete student data at the institution's request. A Data Processing Agreement is available for institutions, and we also support GDPR requirements for international schools.

VoiceExam is built to WCAG 2.2 guidelines, and our goal is Level AAA. Instructors can give any student extended time (1.25x to 3x) from the class roster, and it applies to every timer in that student's exams. Students get a device check before each exam, warm-up practice questions, keyboard navigation, a dark theme, and screen reader announcements for timers and questions. If a student needs an accommodation we don't support yet, contact us.

Today, instructors export each exam's grades as a CSV file that imports into Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Moodle, and other gradebooks. Direct LTI 1.3 integration, with exams launched from your course, roster sync, and automatic grade passback, is in development. Contact us if it matters for your rollout.

Students need a device with a working microphone and camera (laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone), a stable internet connection, and a modern web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. No additional software installation is required. We recommend using headphones for optimal audio quality.

The AI scores each transcribed response against your rubric criteria and quotes the passages it relied on, so you can check its reasoning quickly. Every score carries a confidence level, and low-confidence results are flagged for your review. Instructors can review, adjust, or override any AI-suggested score at any time.

Starter is free for one class of up to 25 students. Professional is $5 per student per semester, or $4 per student per semester when billed yearly, with unlimited classes. Institution plans are priced for departments and campuses, with invoicing and purchase orders. Contact us for a quote.

Instructors decide per exam. An exam can allow a single attempt or several attempts up to a limit you set. Each question accepts one submission per attempt, so students cannot re-record an answer within the same attempt.

Every answer is recorded on video, questions are revealed one at a time on a timer, and the exam clock is enforced on our servers, so answers uploaded after time runs out are rejected. If a student switches tabs or clicks outside the exam window while a question is on screen, VoiceExam records when, for how long, and whether an answer was recording, and answers are also checked for a second voice. Instructors see a timeline and a concern score in Integrity Review, watch the video, and mark each case as reviewed or report it. Students are told before the exam that time away is recorded.

Yes. All traffic is encrypted with TLS. Recordings are kept in private storage and can be played only through short-lived links issued to the student who recorded them, their instructor, or an administrator. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, logins are rate-limited, and every page enforces role-based access. Student data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
